Cute and Creepy

And to think a few years ago Lu wouldn't be anything but a princess. I love traditional Halloween characters...she just added a little flair to her vampire.
The two little ones were a pair but we couldn't keep them together. Molly was a speedy trick-or-treater and Bennett was a social one.

Thanks to Grammy for their costumes!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Kit and Ruthie

I love Halloween! So, so many possibilities. I wish sometimes that we could have mid-evening costume changes just so my kids could be something cute and something creepy. These sweet girls were definitely on the cute side as they dressed up to be Kit and Ruthie from the American Girl Doll series. Have fun trick-or-treating girls!

Finding the Light Seminar

Thanks for such a great seminar Jim! My comfort level was definitely stretched, as well as my ISO, to the fullest extent and I am so grateful that you could take some time on a Sunday to teach us all a little more about natural light photography!

And I can't wait to start using the new actions as well! Here are two from the seminar.

The family in red...is dancing with me...

Just kidding...but I have totally had that cheesy 80's song in my head the entire time I have beed editing their portraits. My brain is a little crazy sometimes.

So I absolutely loved this family. They had lots of energy, were so sweet to eachother and the parents were completely laid back. Yippee! That's my favorite.

These are just a couple of some great shots I got of them at the Arboretum on Saturday.

The rest will be posted soon Jennifer...I promise.

Giddy up!

I love Texas!

I know, I know...how can I be from Oklahoma and love Texas, but it's true. People are so genuine and nice and who can deny a precious little kid in a cowboy hat. So cute!

Meet me next Sunday (and every Sunday in October) at Arapaho United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch at Coit and Arapaho. I will be there from 3pm to 6pm snapping more candids to help raise money for the missions of the church.

Look for me! I will be the tall lady with the camera!

Here I am!

Sometimes I go away for a while and work, work, work on admin stuff. You know, like answering e-mails, retouching photos, processing orders, answering e-mails, editing, websites and answering a few more e-mails...so that's what I have been doing.

But last week I documented a birthday party for these two very sweet little girls at Pee Wee Picasso!

So fun!

NEWS FLASH! Did you know that I do parties now? I have had so many requests to do birthday parties that I am creating an "event division" and hiring some very talented mommy* photographers to help out.

Watch for more details...but pretty much it is $150 for a 90 minutes of event coverage, online gallery for guests to order prints and the unretouched photos on a cd.

And it doesn't have to be a kid's party. Tonight I am documenting a 60th birthday party!
Love it!

End of Summer

The kiddos and I headed up to the pool today for the last swim of summer 2008. Even though school has started summer is never officially over until Labor Day weekend. One last dog on the grill and some splashing in the pool was all we needed to wash the summer off and get pumped for the fall. Lu has already designed a "super cool" halloween costume. Can't wait to see it!
Happy Labor Day!
Now the busy season begins...

sweet angels

These sweet babies were so lovable and easy to photograph. You could definitely see a distinct difference in personalities, but I think that is true of all sisters. I can't wait to watch them grow and see how they will be alike and different. Twins are so amazing! Double blessings to the new family!

Thanks for a wonderful session girls!

What a face!!!

sweet siblings!

I have taken portraits of this sweet Kindergartener and her sister for a while now... and this time their brother got in on the action too! Have you ever seen a baby that is so expressive!?! He is precious and has two wonderful big sisters. Have a great First Day of School, sweet L.

"You say it's your Birthday!...na, na, na, na, na, na!"

My best friend growing up always called me on my birthday and sang that song to me...she's the one who taught me how to be so cool. When I was making the dreadful 80's mistake of Def Leopard and White Snake or Lion or whatever - she introduced me to the Beatles. Great memories!

Anyway, today is my birthday! Yippee! So I am posting a picture of the best birthday gift ever! His name is Henry and we adopted him at Paws in the City a few weeks ago! So I got my first dog at age 32!

I also got the absolute best birthday card today too. My two girls...I am sure our little boy helped in his own...made me a beautiful card and had it propped by a full pot of coffee...thanks to my awesome hubby.

Celebrate today!

Paul

Last week, I spent the morning with Paul, his girlfriend, his two sisters and their 6-month-old puppy. It was pretty crazy, but I think we captured some good ones.

I am loving taking portraits of seniors! They are so young and fun! And I only felt a little old when I found out he was born in the 90's. It was probably around the same time that I was listening to my new nine inch nails tape. memories...

P.S. - Hey Paul, sorry these took so long to get on my blog...I was a little run down. (ha! ha!)

Quick Pics!

I was getting together with these sweet girls for another reason, but while they were here... why not snap a few shots. I think we captured these moments in about 8 minutes flat.
Sometimes quick is good!

new look! new philosophy!

My new logo is at the top of this blog and the red w is my new "swoosh!" My fave color is red!

I have been working for a little while now...okay, all summer. On remarketing my photography business. My goal was to have all of the changes in place before school started back...yippee! I am ahead of schedule!

So many of you have been with me from the beginning and I appreciate you growing with me. You may notice a lot of changes as you read through the {details} section of my website. Check it out and please give me feedback. I am a tough girl and love constructive criticism, so fire away. (I'm okay with compliments too.)

My new philosophy is: fewer clients and phenominal service!

Therefore, I am no longer doing Portraits in the Park...sniffles. I loved doing those over the past four years and it felt great to give back to so many local charities, but now that I have three kiddos of my own I am unable to handle so many clients.
If I met you through a PIP event and you liked the quick and simple format check out my holiday mini-sessions coming up in the fall. I will blog about it later this week and all of the details will be in this month's e-newsletter. If you want to sign up for our e-mailing list simply fill out the form on the bottom of the intro page to the website.

Have an awesome day!!!

little friends

I become friends with so many of my clients and I just love it!

I want to be like your hair stylist or ob/gyn...once you find a good one you tell everyone about her and you can always count on her to see you through every stage of your life. Isn't that how life should be? Great relationships with good, good people.

Well, that is how I feel about this family. I just met them a year ago...but what awesome people! These baby boys are the 3rd and 4th boys in the family. Can you imagine? Four boys!?! Good thing they have an amazing mommy and daddy!

Absolute Three

So I met this wonderful family last Friday at the arboretum. It had rained all morning and was a bit muggy, but since it was a casual family session we just went with it.
The parents and grandparents were so great with the kids...an adventurous three-year-old and 5-month-old twins. Loads of patience which makes for great action shots...pretty much all you can get with most three-year-olds. I want some of that energy!

Sweet Fun!

I used to only like to work with kids. (Mostly because they are easy to photograph and laugh at my corny jokes.) But as I continue to grow I have learned that I really love taking portraits of engaged couples! I mean seriously...wouldn't you love hanging out with this young couple in love? It so reminded me of when me and my Mike were that age...come on, it wasn't that long ago. :)

You may recognize this beautiful friend of mine from a blog last month. I am shooting their wedding in November (yes, I do weddings...but only a few each year) and I am so excited to share in this awesome moment! What an honor!

just one more of Caroline...

I just finished this one to post on my website and since I know some of you only check the blog, I thought I would share it here as well. Keep sending me those seniors...so much fun!

Caroline

Caroline is an amazing Lake Highlands Senior that I got to hang out with this morning. We found a variety of locations in which to take her portrait and I knew she was my kind of girl when we pulled up to this cheesy gazebo and then I mentioned a wall with graffiti. She said, "Graffiti!? Yes!" So we hoped over a creek and under the bridge to get the perfect spot, but it was totally worth it.

sweet dreams

With each session I always try to envision the shots I want in my head. I think about the lighting, the atmosphere, my mood and the child's mood...it all comes across in the portraits.

Well, I hope you can see the sweetness in this little angel. These two were so sweet together. She loves, loves, loves her momma. There is nothing like the bond of mother and daughter!

I can't wait to meet her big brother at her six month session in November!

yummy!

In order to make the babies comfortable, I always ask mom or dad to bring their babies favorite thing...it is usually a blankie, or stuffed bunny or rattle...but today baby "I" brought his favorite thing...sweet potatoes! What a boy! He was so full of life and adventure! His big sisters are going to have their hands full! Thanks for a great and relaxed session!
